  I was scheduled for a EGD at 930 today for check on a tumor in my stomach I was told to keep a close check on this as it could turn cancer. My primary care doc referred my here. I received a call a few days ago from here confirming my appt time and was told to arrived at 920 and bring a list of meds( that was all that was said) after prepping all night and being extremely sick as I have bad stomach issues I arrive here. I signed in and was told at that time ONLY that I had to pay what added to around 500.00. I personally don't have this amount on me nor was I prepared to pay anything except my 15 copay as always. What made this worse is I was humiliated in front of a room full of people. They then called the billing office and had me speak with someone named Nicki she told me she tried to call me 2 times but no answer she also said I did not had s answering machines which is absolutely not true as I get messages daily. I told her that obviously someone could get me as I was called and confirmed my appt but NO mention of any up front money. After several minutes of humiliation I left crying. I was a office manager for a huge gastroenterology practice in NORTH CAROLINA for over 11 years and if any of my staff had ever acted as u did they would no longer have jobs I called my primary doctor and they were shocked as to why my insurance was not filed first and me billed a balance if any. They told me to file a formal complaint. As this could be dangerous I hope no one has to go through what I did

  The nurses were very kind and Doctor Shinde was great . But the woman at the front desk was rude ! Not only to myself but to several other patients I seen checking in .
